About Me
My journey into psychotherapy was somewhat unconventional. Initially drawn to the intricacies of the human body, I pursued medicine and earned my MD. However, after completing medical school, I realized my true passion lay in understanding and addressing the root causes of illness rather than solely treating symptoms. This led me to public health, where I focused on prevention and population health.
Working in public health, I saw firsthand how social determinants and psychological factors significantly impact overall health outcomes. This experience solidified my belief in the interconnectedness of physical and mental well-being. To better address these complexities, I pursued a Master's in Counseling Psychology. This path allows me to integrate my medical and public health knowledge with psychological insights, enabling me to provide holistic care that truly addresses the needs of my clients.
My unique combination of medical, public health, and counseling psychology training sets me apart in my field. This interdisciplinary background allows me to approach therapy from a comprehensive perspective, integrating mental, physical, and social health considerations. My clinical and scholarly experiences, along with my personal journey of acculturation, enable me to provide culturally sensitive and evidence-based care. This holistic approach ensures that I address the full spectrum of my clients' needs, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being.
